Actor Abhay Verma discussed his upcoming film King alongside Shah Rukh Khan at the Khidkiyan Theatre Festival, describing the experience as deeply meaningful. Verma, known for roles that have often typecast him as a 'chocolate boy', expressed his commitment to taking on diverse characters that challenge audience perceptions and demonstrate his range as a performer.
Reflecting on his work in King, Verma called it a career highlight and a significant honour to work alongside Shah Rukh Khan, whom he has admired since childhood. He stated: "It's a blessing for me. It's a huge deal. It feels great to be a part of a film where all the legends are there, watching whom I learned acting." Verma noted that working with Khan and appearing opposite him in scenes has been a lifelong aspiration, describing it as "the page I wrote first in my diary."
During the interaction, Verma was asked about rumours of a special King teaser being released on Shah Rukh Khan's birthday. He did not confirm the report but expressed enthusiasm for the idea if true. Verma also shared birthday wishes for Khan, crediting the superstar's on-screen work with teaching audiences about love and the importance of human relationships across generations.
Verma recounted an anecdote from the King set illustrating Khan's professional dedication. Despite having only a minor shot scheduled at the end of a 16-hour shooting day, Khan remained present on set for the entire duration, a commitment Verma attributed to what defines Khan as a performer after three decades in cinema. Looking ahead, Verma stated he is eager to continue challenging himself with varied roles in forthcoming projects including King and Mehbooba.
