At an audio launch event in Chennai, filmmaker Atlee reflected on his career trajectory and publicly acknowledged actor Vijay's pivotal role in his rise. Atlee explained that while his early success came through films like Raja Rani, his collaborations with Vijay on Theri, Mersal and Bigil elevated his standing significantly in Indian cinema.

Atlee revealed that when Shah Rukh Khan approached him to direct Jawan, Vijay provided crucial encouragement for the project. According to Atlee's account, Shah Rukh Khan told him to pursue the film without hesitation, assuring him it would transform his career. Atlee credited this support network—particularly Vijay's backing—as instrumental to the film's eventual success as a major blockbuster.

The director also addressed Vijay's recent entry into politics, clarifying that despite mentioning him frequently, he does not expect future film collaborations. Atlee expressed admiration for Vijay's political influence, noting that younger audiences are now more engaged with civic processes. Looking ahead, Atlee is developing Raaka, his next major project with actors Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone.
