Shah Rukh Khan was among major Bollywood stars who performed at the Bollywood Awards ceremony held on 1 May at the Nassau Coliseum in Hempstead, Long Island. The event drew a near-capacity crowd of approximately 17,000 attendees from across South Asian diaspora communities in New York and New Jersey.
Shah Rukh Khan, alongside Juhi Chawla and Shilpa Shetty, performed musical numbers including Koi Mil Gaya, Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam, and Chhaiya Chhaiya. The four-hour show featured various Bollywood performances, costume changes, and entertainment by other artists including playback singer Udit Narayan and his son Aditya Narayan, Pakistani band Junoon, British reggae artist Apache Indian, and veteran Bangla singer Runa Laila. The stage production included laser displays and fireworks.
Ticket prices ranged from USD 25 to USD 100. Michael Jackson also attended as a special guest, receiving a Humanitarian Award for his Heal The World Foundation's work promoting peace and understanding globally.
