Kannada star Yash has pushed back on the idea that KGF: Chapter 1 beating Shah Rukh Khan's Zero at the box office made him the bigger star.

The two films opened on the same day, 21 December 2018. KGF, viewed at the time as the smaller release, went on to earn around Rs 250 crore worldwide and outperformed Zero's theatrical run.

Speaking on the interview show Aap Ki Adalat, Yash rejected the comparison, noting that his was the small film while Khan's was a major release that happened to share the date.

Calling Khan a superstar, he said crossing that line in his own head would be self-defeating — that the day he starts believing he is bigger than his seniors is the day his career is finished.
